Do you want to learn about running for office?
Time is running out to pre-register for the Running for Local Office 201 Workshop, designed for people who are thinking about throwing their hat in a future ring or just pondering the possibility.
The workshop, which will be led by League member Diann Andy, is Monday, Jan. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bexar County Elections Department, 1103 S Frio St., San Antonio. You need not have attended Running for Local Office 101 to benefit from this one.
Topics will include:
- Campaign financing
- Ethics requirements
- Best practices for garnering publicity, public speaking, etc.
- Finding a mentor
Bexar County Elections Administrator Jacquelyn Callanen will speak about reporting and ethics issues. Participants
will also meet other Elections Department staff and take a tour of the facilities.
People who are planning to run are urged to attend with their treasurer; those who think they might run in the future are urged to attend with a possible treasurer.
Running for Local Office 201 is free, but to ensure enough materials for everyone, pre-registration is encouraged.
