Hear head of Smart Vote at 'Can We Talk' event
Can We Talk? Specifically, the organization with that name wants to do just that on Sept. 4, about
“Facts Matter,” the Vote Smart national tour that is coming through San Antonio on that date with Richard Kimball, president of Vote Smart.
Can We Talk?. a coalition of more than 65 women’s organizations, holds events in March, to commemorate Women’s History Month, and near Aug. 26, to commemorate Women’s Equality Day and Texas Women’s Independence Day. This year the latter event is being held a little late because of the timing of the tour, which was deemed appropriate for the event.
Vote Smart’s mission, as stated on its website, is to
provide free, factual, unbiased information on candidates and elected officials to all Americans. It accepts no money from special interest groups, and no one can join the board without a political opposite.
It provides voting records, biographical and contact information, issue positions and more for every candidate and elected official from national to local level.
The event includes networking, dinner and the program and runs from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at SAWS headquarters, 2800 U.S. Hwy 281 N., San Antonio 78212. Cost before Aug. 3 is $25; between Aug. 4 and Aug. 24 is $35; after Aug. 24 is $45.
