Use Your Voice

[UNDER CONSTRUCTION]

The League of Women Voters envisions a democracy where every person has the desire, the right, the knowledge and the confidence to participate. We often say that your vote is your voice, and voting is what most people think of when they contemplate what it means to participate in a democracy.

However voting is just the beginning of the story when it comes to your voice.

As an individual, you can have a more expansive influence on the laws and policies that affect you, your family, and your friends by letting your elected representatives know what is important to you.

You can...

  • call your elected representatives to ask them to support or oppose legislation that is coming up for a vote
  • testify at public hearings on proposed legislation
  • meet in person with legislators or their staff to tell the story of why you support or oppose a bill
  • track legislation that is winding its way through Congress and your statehouse.

We will be assembling resources here to help you do just that.
