Twice a year, in March and August, League members attend a program and dinner that is coordinated by Can We Talk?, a collaborative of over 65 women’s groups. You won’t want to miss the program on March 6th.
It will be a power-packed program designed to inspire each of us to make change in our community. The event theme is “Moving Forward Together! Women Educating and Inspiring Generations" supporting National Women's History Alliance's call to celebrate the influence of women who have dedicated their lives to education, mentorship, and leadership.
Can We Talk? will dive into a thought-provoking discussion about how four extraordinary women who lived in San Antonio in the early 1900's contributed to our community. Two of the women, Jovita Idar and Mary Eleanor Brackenridge, helped to bring women’s suffrage to Texas. The other two women who will be highlighted are Artemisia Bowden and Emma Gutzeit, remarkable women in their own fields of education and museum curation, respectively.
Panelist will share the stories of these four leaders and explore how these women's accomplishments can help inspire us to create change, enhance our self-fulfillment, and contribute to our community.
The evening’s moderator is Dr. Adriana Contreras, Executive Director of the Mays Center for Experiential Learning and Community Engagement at Texas A&M University. The panelists are: Dr. Arena Williams Loston, St. Philips College President; Richard Idar, Jovita Idar’s great-nephew; Debbi Schoia; and Tim Draves, adjunct professor at University of Incarnate Word.

Time: Shopping and networking at 5:30pm and buffet dinner will be served at 6:15pm. The program will begin promptly at 7:00pm.
Cost: $40 if you buy your ticket by February 28 and $50 after March 1.
