May 4 Municipal Election


This election will include several school districts and municipalities, as well as a first-time countywide election for three members of the Bexar County Appraisal District. More details will be available closer to the election.

Important Deadlines:

  • First day to apply for a ballot by mail: Monday, January 1
  • Last day to register to vote: Thursday, April 4
  • Last day for Elections Department to receive mail ballot application: Tuesday, April 23
  • Last day for Elections Department to receive mail ballot:
    • Saturday, May 4, 7:00 pm if not postmarked
    • Monday, May 6, 5:00 pm if postmarked locally by Saturday, May 4, 7:00 pm

May 28 Runoff Election


This is the runoff election for the Republican and Democratic primary races in which no candidate received more than 50% of the votes. People who voted in the March 5 primary can vote only on the ballot of the same party whose ballot they chose in the March 5 primary. Those who did not vote in the primary can choose which ballot they want.

November 5 General Election


This is when candidates who won their primary races, as well as third-party, independent and write-in candidates, are elected to office in federal, statewide and county races. There are no runoffs - whichever candidate wins the most votes in each race is elected. Some San Antonio city charter amendments also are expected to be on the ballot. More details will be available closer to the election.
