Policy Positions

The League of Women Voters of the San Antonio Area holds positions on governmental policy issues, collectively known as Program, which serve as the basis for education and advocacy efforts.

These positions address issues that were researched and discussed by the membership, and through a subsequent consensus-building process, agreement was reached on a position to take.

To keep positions current, the membership reviews program positions and makes recommendations for changes at the League's Annual Meeting.  Positions may be readopted, restudied, amended, or deleted if desired the policy change has been achieved.

As a local League, LWVSA may advocate for and take action on any of our own positions, as well as on positions taken by the League of Women Voters of Texas and the League of Women Voters of the United States, as long as the local membership agrees on the position, and in addition, that the action is timely, needed, and likely to be effective.
