Voter registration drives and The Voters Guide are the recognized activities of the League of Women Voters There are, however, less visible efforts that Leagues undertake as part of their mission to advocate for their priority issues.
These efforts may involve developing and researching local and state League priority issues and providing that information to officials and lawmakers, interviewing state legislators regarding their priorities, working with the Texas LWV during the state’s legislative sessions, and developing for the Voters Guide pros-and-cons on initiatives that will be on a ballot.
Currently the LWVSA Program and Advocacy committee is interviewing state legislators or their key staff who represent different parts of the county. Over the coming months we will research the aspects of Child Welfare in the county.
