To date, LWVSA has limited election information to state, national, county and city of San Antonio elections. There are many other local elections that occur in Bexar County that are not included in the information typically shared such as smaller municipalities and school districts. There are almost 20 public school districts in Bexar County that have board and bond elections, typically in May, but not every school district has an election every year.
Community Outreach is interested in expanding our outreach to include information from school district elections for Bexar County Voters. The challenges to this include the number of districts, the format of the elections, and whether the district uses Bexar County to manage their elections. With limited resources, LWVSA Community Outreach needs a structured, ordered, and consistent way to collect and disseminate the information. The Community Outreach Committee has begun an initiative to research and disseminate information on these school district elections to increase voter engagement in these elections.
On February 8, 2025, Community Outreach launched the Public School District Initiative. More details will be communicated in February to Community Outreach Volunteers with a request for assistance with this endeavor.
