President-Elect: - Assists the President for one year in preparation for serving in that position. The President-Elect does not automatically become the President, however, and must be elected by the general membership.
Program & Advocacy VP - Conducts studies on public policy issues selected by membership at the annual meeting. Other responsibilities include organizing policy forums and preparing explanations and pros/cons for the Voters Guide on local propositions. In odd numbered years, the committee coordinates interviews with members of the Texas Legislature.
Voter Services VP - Responsibilities include preparing Voters Guides in multiple languages, sponsoring candidate forums and interviews, and providing information on voting deadlines and procedures. Additionally, Voter Services coordinates activities educating citizens about candidate views, ballot initiatives and critical public policy issues.
At Large Directors – Three At Large Directors positions are open, including Director of Communications and Director of Governance.
Director of Communications - Increases awareness of the League and its activities through social media posts, traditional media and the monthly League’s newsletter.
Director of Governance - Drafts bylaws and policies as needed with input from the board and maintains a current record of the League’s bylaws and policies.
The Board of Directors is elected by the membership during the annual meeting in May. The VP and At Large Directors serve a two-year term. Board meetings are virtual during the winter months and in person during the spring, summer and fall. Meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of the month starting at 5:30 and usually finish by 7 pm. The best preparation for serving on the board is first to take an active role in a committee. Learn more about committees under the What We Do tab at
