The purpose of the Bexar County Elections and Voter Engagement Advisory Committee is to serve as a liaison between Bexar County residents and the Commissioners Court. Its mission is to assess, identify, and recommend policy and procedure updates that enhance the elections process, promote civic engagement, and increase voter education and participation.
The committee’s first task will be to assess, prioritize and make recommendations to Commissioners Court on implementation of eleven (11) reforms outlined in the Democracy from the Ground Up platform. The platform is a coalition of voting rights groups (e.g., Texas Civil Rights Project, MOVE Texas, etc.) advocating for local governments to protect and improve local election systems and supports Bexar County’s goal to deliver a modern, voter-centric election system that conducts accurate, secure, and accessible elections and supports citizens in exercising their democratic rights.
The committee is comprised of 5 members, one appointed by each county commissioner and one appointed by the county judge. For a list of committee members, refer to

The committee will initially focus on the assessment of the outlined eleven (11) reforms and expand to include public comment to gather community feedback and address other potential reforms or enhancements.
