No More Money for ICE and CBP

Published on 5/28/2026

President Trump had urged Congress to send the bill to his desk by June 1, but that timeline is no longer feasible because of the current delay. The reconciliation bill, which is supposed to be narrowly focused on funding for ICE and CBP, stalled after the White House announced an “anti-weaponization” fund that would compensate alleged victims of “lawfare and weaponization” and those targeted for “political, personal, or ideological reasons,” including people involved in the January 6 attack on the Capitol. Because the fund is unpopular with members of Congress on both sides of the aisle, lawmakers are considering adding guardrails through the reconciliation bill. This means funding for ICE and CBP has been stalled until an agreement can be reached on the fund.

Therefore, we now have more time to demand Congress stop funding attacks on historically marginalized communities.  Contact your members of Congress to demand they reject additional funding for ICE and CBP when they return from recess.
