Human Trafficking: Prevention, Prosecution, and Protection

Despite Texas lawmakers’ efforts over the past decade to address human trafficking, the problem continues to cause personal and economic devastation as traffickers adapt to exploit new opportunities in frightening ways. To hear firsthand how human trafficking is experienced in San Antonio from a diverse expert panel, Leaders for Democracy, a Unit of The League of Women Voters of the San Antonio Area presented a forum, “Human Trafficking in San Antonio,” on Monday, October 30, 2017, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Paesano’s, 3622 Paesanos Pkwy.
Research shows there are more slaves in the world today than there ever have been in human history, and it is equally alarming how prevalent the problem is right here in San Antonio. “It is imperative that we increase awareness and educate our community about the realities of human trafficking so that we can work together to identify effective solutions and better support these victims,” says Madhu Sridhar, president of the League of Women Voters of the San Antonio Area.
