The 2023 celebration will begin with the in-person march kickoff at 10 a.m. at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Academy, 3501 Martin Luther King Drive, and ends at Pittman-Sullivan Park, 1101 Iowa St., followed by the park celebration at Pittman-Sullivan Park.
We will meet at St. Phillips College (1801 Martin Luther King Dr), in the parking lot by the tennis courts, at
8:30AM. We will take the VIA buses as a group to the start of the march. The march route is 2.9 miles long. If you miss us at St Phillips, we will be in Section 6, Position 3 in the march line-up.
Buses will return passengers to the original pick-up locations from 12 to 3:30 p.m. Participants may access return service at Pittman-Sullivan Park, 1101 Iowa St.
We will have stickers to share with the community. For VDRs who attend, we will have materials for voter registration throughout the event. We will not have a table, but can engage voters in conversations and in voter registration if needed.
Please wear a LWVSA t-shirt or other non-partisan clothing. I will have some extra t-shirts available at the site.
